Offshore and energy

An offshore and energy digital twin that finds the binding constraint.

Synopton keeps a live twin of platforms, terminals and plants: production against nomination, the unit limiting it right now, and the price of every hour of deferment.

Aerial view of two offshore platforms linked by a bridge, with a flare tower.

The constraint moves during the day

Platforms, terminals and plants where an hour of deferment has a price.

Production is limited by one unit at a time, and that unit changes during the day.

The twin keeps the whole constraint ladder current, so the control room argues about the right valve, not the right spreadsheet. When the binding unit shifts, the twin shows the new one, the gap it opens and what it costs per day.

What the energy twin watches

Process, permits, consumables and people.

The twin watches

  • Production against nomination, by the minute
  • The binding constraint and the next one behind it
  • Flare volumes against the annual permit
  • PPE, exclusion zones and work at height on platform cameras
  • Mercury beds, catalysts and other consumables with a runway

Decisions it drives

  • Which setpoint to move, and what it is worth per day
  • Whether an instrument or a camera is telling the truth
  • When to swap a bed inside the frozen window
  • Which investment unlocks the most capacity

Ask the twin why

Answers with a citation on every claim.

Type “why are we below nomination?” and the twin returns the binding constraint, the gap, its daily cost and the fix, each linked to its evidence. Answers that cannot be cited are not shown.

When an analyser goes offline, the twin says so, switches the affected figures to assumed and warns on any decision that depends on them. Read more on the platform page.

Built for operators’ security rules

Read-only by default, deployment agreed per client.

  • Read-only connectors to the DCS and process historians, LIMS, CMMS, CCTV and video analytics, nomination portals and the field’s 3D model
  • Nothing written back to plant systems
  • Hosted by us, or in your own cloud tenancy
  • Single sign-on, role-based access, and every answer and decision logged

Halcyon Field, in the demo.

Halcyon Field, an offshore gas field with two platforms and a 142 km export line, is fully built in the interactive demo, with platform cameras, the constraint ladder and Ask the twin.

Questions buyers ask

Does Synopton write to the DCS?

No. Connectors are read-only. Accepting a recommendation drafts a decision record for people to agree; nothing is written back to plant systems.

Our data is messy. Is that a problem?

It is normal. Anything we cannot measure is labelled as assumed, so nobody mistakes an estimate for a reading, and the data health screen shows where the gaps are.

Can it run in our own cloud?

Yes, if you prefer. Hosting, data residency and retention are agreed during the pilot and written into the contract.

How soon do we see results?

The twin is usable from week six of a 90-day pilot. Your team runs real decisions through it in weeks seven to twelve.

Other industries

The same platform runs twins of other assets that can’t stop.
